Spray foam insulation
For property and business owners in the UK, the benefits of spray foam insulation are numerous.
Used in residential, commercial and industrial spaces, it has the ability to dramatically improve a buildings thermal performance.
These include improved indoor comfort, lower monthly heating and cooling costs, improved energy efficiency of HVAC equipment, quieter spaces and greatly reducing the ability of allergens and pollutants entering the home.

The key benefits of spray foam insulation
As Scotland’s specialists in spray foam insulation, we are dedicated to making your spaces safer, warmer and more cost efficient. Explore the benefits of spray foam insulation in more detail, or get in touch with our friendly team to find out more.
Cheaper bills
We’ll make your spaces completely airtight, reducing energy bills and increasing property value.
Icynene spray foam has been proven over the years to provide huge savings for residential, commercial and industrial applications. By making your space more energy efficient, you essentially reduce the need to use energy warming or cooling your rooms. Our open cell foams allow moisture to travel through the material of the structure freely, reducing condensation and noise in the process.
Real protection
Icynene forms a barrier, protecting you from fire, pollutants, pests, mould and noise.
One of the biggest advantages for home owners is the protection that Icynene products offer. Pests like ants, bees, rats and squirrels will struggle to make your home their home — simply due to the fact that there is no nooks and crannies for them to work their way in. This logic applies to harmful street chemicals like car exhaust and pollutants like pollen.
Open cell Icynene spray foams also prevent water build up, greatly reducing the risk of common problems like damp or infestation.
Fast and efficient
On average, we can insulate a space 5x faster than two joiners using traditional rigid board.
Due to the matter in which spray foam is applied, our highly trained installers are able to quickly and neatly fill cavities within walls, floors and roof spaces much faster than using traditional materials. This also makes planning and working with other trades much simpler and more time efficient on site.
We also leave our sites in a clean and tidy manner, allowing plasterboard to go straight over your newly insulated space.
100% breathable
Icynene allows building materials to breathe, avoiding moisture build-up, wet and dry rot.
One of the big misconceptions around spray foam is that it will block air and encourage mould — this could not be further from the truth! Our open-cell foams allow vapour to move naturally through the structure, reducing the risk of moisture becoming trapped and turning stagnant.
Our closed-cell foams, which are primarily used for industrial applications, are designed to stop transfer of air and water, however these are only ever used in specialist cases such as insulation for industrial tanks and service pipes.
Key Applications
Residential
We can work with you to create a much warmer, safer and cost efficient home — whether it’s a new build, renovation or retrofit.

Icynene Classic Plus
LD-C-70 Spray
Icynene introduces the next evolution of modern spray foam insulation – Icynene Classic Plus (LD-C-70). With a remarkably high insulating value (lambda 0.034), excellent adhesion and a highly competitive yield, Icynene Classic Plus is simply the best in class open-cell spray foam product available on the market.
Icynene is 100% water blown and lets you meet and exceed the latest residential and commercial building compliance and legislation (REACH).
Icynene Classic Plus ‘O’
Fire Retardant Spray Foam
The latest addition to the impressive Icynene product range is Icynene Classic Plus “O”.
Icynene Classic Plus “O” is a class 0 fire rated spray foam insulation that has also achieved a best in class surface spread of flame of class 1 ( test range class 1 best to class 4 worst). Utilising a special intumescent coating Icynene has achieved certification to BS EN 476 Part 6 & 7 in addition to achieving Class 0 in accordance with approved Documents B “Fire Safety” To the Building Regulations 2000.
Icynene Classic Pour Fill
LD-C-50 Pour
Icynene’s pour fill variation is an insulation and air barrier that injects the latest building technology into an older building to maximise energy efficiency while still preserving its original architectural details. Icynene® fills the wall cavity completely, starting at the bottom and slowly expanding upwards to 60 times its initial volume. Since Icynene expands in the direction of least resistance, it will not expand outward and damage the wall. The pour fill formula has a thermal conductivity of 0.034 – 0.039 W/mK.
Icynene Icyfoam Elite Closed Cell Foam

About Icynene products
Background
Icynene is the pioneer of modern spray foam insulation. Since 1986, Icynene continues to lead the industry with its innovation and leadership by developing new open-cell and closed-cell products which are ideal for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Icynene invests resources into developing high-performance spray foam solutions that both insulate and air-seal to meet local building codes and the demand from homeowners for energy efficiency and comfort.
In addition to providing insulating and air sealing value, Icynene spray foam insulation works to help reduce heating and cooling bills and reduce the penetration of noise with its excellent sound dampening qualities. Icynene spray foam insulation allows home and building owners live, work and play in comfort in more energy efficient buildings.

Frequently asked questions
For property and business owners in the UK, the benefits of spray foam insulation are numerous.
We are often asked questions about spray foam insulation, how it is applied and its long term performance. You can find a list of these questions, along with their answers, below. If you have any other questions that don’t feature in this FAQ section please get in touch directly.
No! Our spray foam will not rot your roof. We use the Icynene spray foam insulation system, which is the most accredited and certified foam in the UK market. It is an ‘open cell’, breathable foam which is designed to be directly applied to various construction materials. This means it allows the building substrate to breathe correctly, while remaining airtight.
Breathability in construction is to do with the movement of vapour and moisture, not airflow. Because our foam is open cell, it allows vapour and moisture movement through the material, allowing the substrate — whether it is timber or stone — to ‘breathe’ as it normally should.
Breathability in construction, is quite different to breathability in a person and this is often where the confusion lies. Breathability in construction is to do with the movement of vapour and moisture — not airflow — like in you and me!
No. Like most building materials, there are cheaper options, but in no way can these materials — for example wool — be compared to the performance of our spray foam. Our foam as a guide is approximately the same price as the equivalent depth of a rigid board insulation, except our price also includes installation and any waste removal, so it is usually cheaper and faster than an equivalent rigid board install.
This is true when using other, non-breathable products, and is a traditional requirement. However, because of our foams open cell construction which allows the roof to breath, we have full BBA approval for the direct application with no ventilation gap needed.
Spray foam can be used in almost every construction project. From residential new builds, renovations, old barn conversions, attic conversions and retro fits to commercial and industrial applications, the list is almost endless! A good rule of thumb is if it can be insulated traditionally, then we can insulate it!
Yes! We have BBA approval for any application we install. The BBA are the approval and certification body in the UK which test and accredit almost every building product. As well as the BBA certificate, we also provide U-Value calculations and a condensation risk analysis to satisfy any building control questions.
Yes. We supply a 25-year Icynene backed guarantee, which means if ScotFoam ever cease trading (hopefully not!) your guarantee will still be backed by the largest spray foam manufacturer in the world.
Icynene are the largest spray foam manufacturer in the World, and ScotFoam are proud to be one of the only contractors in the UK with direct links to the manufacturer, meaning we can offer our foam at an extremely competitive rate. Icynene is also the most accredited foam in the UK with BBA, KIWA and ETA approvals for all applications.
